Dentist in Newtown wearing a face shield

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed all of our lives in one way or another. You have been working from home, practicing social distancing, and even wearing masks during public outings. Your dental team is no different. In order to keep patients and the staff safe, your dentist in Newtown has implemented many new safety protocols, including wearing a face shield. Continue reading to learn more about why this is effective and other steps being taken to protect those at the practice.

Why Are Dentists Wearing Face Shields?

Even though your dentist always wears a surgical mask and gloves when working in patients’ mouths, due to current events, this isn’t enough. Your dentist and the rest of the clinical team have opted to wear FDA approved PET face shields as another barrier to prevent the spread of COVID-19. When dental team is safe from the virus, so are you.

What Other Steps Is My Dentist Taking Against COVID-19?

In addition to more personal protective equipment, your dental team is following many new safety precautions. Here are just some of them:

Daily Health Checks

When the team comes into the office every day, they are required to answer a quick set of questions and complete a no-contact temperature check to ensure that they are willing and able to provide safe dental care to patients.

Advanced Staff Training

All team members have completed additional awareness and prevention programs in order to enhance their knowledge and preparedness during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Virtual Waiting Room

Instead of checking in at the reception area, you can now check in from your vehicle. Just call the friendly dental staff to let them know that you’ve arrived. They will alert you when they’re ready for you. This way, you can bypass the entire waiting area and go directly to your treatment room.

Sequenced Patient Scheduling

Appointments are being scheduled further apart than usual to limit unnecessary contact between patients. This also allow for more time for additional cleaning.

Patient Pre-Screening

App patients are asked to complete a quick health questionnaire, consent form, as well as a no-touch temperature check upon arrival to the office.

At-Risk Patient Hours

If you are at higher risk of developing severe symptoms if you contract COVID-19, there are special hours designated just for you. This way, you can go to the dentist with peace-of-mind.

Installed Clear Barriers

Hard plastic guards have been placed throughout the office in order to block the movement of airborne particles. This barriers are regularly disinfected throughout the day.

Just because we’re living through a pandemic doesn’t mean that you should be neglecting your oral health. With these new safety protocols, you can rest assured that you are safe.
